Bortoletti Bembo wooden calligraphy pen set for elegant handwriting
The Bortoletti Bembo wooden calligraphy pen set is a refined writing set created for those who appreciate traditional handwriting, natural materials, and Italian craftsmanship. Entirely handcrafted in the Bortoletti artistic foundry laboratory in Venice, this elegant set combines a wooden calligraphy pen, bronze detail, vintage nibs, quality ink, and a practical pen rest in a presentation that feels both classic and distinctive.
Designed for writing important words and enjoying the art of calligraphy, the Bembo set brings together beauty, function, and heritage character in a form that looks just as appealing on the desk as it does in use.
Handcrafted wooden pen with bronze detail
The Bembo pen is made from wood and fitted with a hand-chiselled bronze nib holder, creating a balanced and attractive writing instrument with timeless appeal. The warmth of the wood pairs beautifully with the decorative metalwork, giving the set an understated elegance suited to both writing and display.
Complete set with nibs, ink, and pen rest
This calligraphy set includes a pen holder, three perfectly functioning vintage nibs, and a bottle of Hamburg calligraphy ink. It also comes with a unique pen rest designed to support the calligraphy pen neatly during pauses in writing, adding both convenience and a sense of completion to the set.
Ideal for fine point calligraphy
This set is especially well suited to practising fine point calligraphy. Fine-tipped nibs are valued for the flexibility created by their shape and slit, allowing variation in pressure on the downward stroke and producing the elegant light-and-dark contrast that is particularly visible in English cursive writing.
Suitable for a range of writing styles
As well as fine point writing, the set can be used with broader truncated nibs, cut transversely in the style of a traditional quill. These are suitable for a range of classic calligraphy styles, including circular hands, ancient Gothic, modern Gothic, and Italic writing. This makes the Bembo set a versatile option for anyone exploring traditional letterforms.
A practical introduction to calligraphy tools
Calligraphy nibs and nib holders are essential tools for handwriting, and this set offers a rewarding way to become familiar with them. Whether you are beginning your calligraphy journey or returning to dip pen writing, the Bembo set provides a graceful introduction to forming letters with beauty, rhythm, and control.
Elegant desk appeal
As a decorative item or for writing important words, this wooden calligraphy pen set makes a refined addition to a stylish desk. Its natural wood, bronze detail, and classic writing accessories give it a heritage-inspired presence that feels both practical and decorative.
Gift-worthy presentation
With its combination of artisan materials and traditional writing tools, the Bembo set makes an excellent gift for calligraphers, writers, stationery lovers, and anyone who appreciates fine Italian desk accessories. It is a thoughtful choice for customers looking for a writing set with both beauty and usability.
Bortoletti Italian craftsmanship
Bortoletti is known for elegant writing instruments and desk accessories inspired by Venice, traditional craftsmanship, and decorative metalwork. The Bembo wooden calligraphy pen set reflects that heritage through its handcrafted construction, hand-chiselled bronze detail, and careful balance of form and function. It is a writing set that celebrates the enduring appeal of artisan making.

Hi Connie,
Yes, of course. The ink is placed in the nib by dipping the nib into the ink, just enough to fill the reservoir, but not all the way down the shaft of the pen.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Regards,
Jane Lappage
To change a nib in a Bortoletti dip pen, first pull the existing metal or glass nib straight out from the holder. If you are switching from a metal nib to a glass nib, you may also need to remove the small metal collar, or ferrule, from the tip of the holder using your fingernail. Once that is removed, slide the new nib into place and check that it is seated firmly and sitting straight so the ink flows properly.
