PAScribe Black Edged Ink 45ml

PAScribe Black Edged Ink is a richly pigmented calligraphy ink designed specifically for broad-edged nibs and quills. Its slightly thicker formulation produces deep, ultra-black strokes while maintaining smooth ink flow and excellent coverage.

Inspired by traditional soot-based inks once used on vellum, this formulation delivers a tactile, painterly writing experience—similar to working with gouache, but with the ease and flow of a premium calligraphy ink.

Designed for Broad Edge Calligraphy

PAScribe Black Edged Ink performs exceptionally well with broad-edged nibs, making it ideal for structured lettering styles such as italic, gothic, foundational and other formal scripts.

Manufactured in Italy by Hamburg

PAScribe inks are produced in Italy by Hamburg, a respected specialist manufacturer known for high-quality calligraphy ink formulations. This collaboration combines PAScribe’s expertise in calligraphy education with Hamburg’s long-standing experience in professional ink production.

Excellent Coverage & Rich Black Colour

The slightly thicker formulation ensures strong pigment coverage across paper, parchment and vellum surfaces, producing bold lettering with excellent contrast and depth.

Generous 45ml Bottle

The 45ml bottle provides ample ink for regular practice, calligraphy workshops and extended lettering projects.

Ideal For

  • Italic calligraphy
  • Gothic and blackletter scripts
  • Foundational hand practice
  • Formal display lettering
  • Traditional broad edge calligraphy

Compatible Tools

Suitable for broad-edged nibs and calligraphy quills.

Note: Due to its larger pigment particulates and thicker formulation, PAScribe Black Edged Ink is not suitable for pointed nibs or fountain pens.

This ink forms part of the PAScribe range of calligraphy tools designed to support both modern and traditional lettering techniques.

This ink is so good with my speedball C nibs, the best I’ve used so far. I get a much better thin with the corner of the nib and the colour is so even across the page. The ability to use on many different papers like copy paper too is fantastic
