Bortoletti Tiepolo bronze calligraphy pen and letter opener set for elegant desk use

The Bortoletti Tiepolo calligraphy pen and letter opener set is a distinctive writing accessory created for those who appreciate traditional craftsmanship, elegant desk tools, and inventive Italian design. Combining a decorated bronze calligraphy pen with a functional letter opener in a single object, this refined set offers both beauty and practicality in a form that feels timeless and original.

Designed for anyone who values Venetian style and the pleasure of handwritten words, the Tiepolo set reflects Bortoletti’s ongoing dialogue between past and present. It is a writing instrument with character, purpose, and strong decorative appeal.

An ingenious two-in-one design

The Tiepolo set brings together a calligraphy pen and a letter opener in one classy object. This clever combination makes it a practical accessory for the writing desk, allowing it to serve both as a tool for elegant correspondence and as a refined desk piece for opening letters with style.

Handcrafted decorated bronze pen

The bronze pen is made entirely by hand by skilled master craftsmen using the lost-wax casting technique. This traditional method gives the piece depth, detail, and a strong sense of artisan character, while the decorative finish reinforces its heritage-inspired appearance.

Inspired by jewellers’ sketches

Like all Bortoletti creations, the Tiepolo pen begins with sketches drawn on paper by master jewellers. This design-led approach gives the piece its distinctive balance of ornament, proportion, and function, creating a writing instrument that feels carefully considered from first concept to finished object.

Complete set with vintage nibs and ink

This calligraphy set includes three vintage nibs and calligraphy ink, making it ideal for practising fine-tip calligraphy and enjoying traditional dip pen writing. The different nibs allow you to explore variations in line and letterform, while the included ink makes the set ready for use.

Ideal for fine-tip calligraphy

The Tiepolo pen is especially suited to fine-tip calligraphy, making it an appealing choice for elegant handwriting, meaningful words, and decorative writing projects. It offers a pleasing way to enjoy the art of forming letters clearly and beautifully with traditional tools.

First-choice materials and artisan workmanship

First-choice materials and artisanal workmanship are central to the appeal of the Tiepolo set. Bortoletti’s emphasis on quality extends from material selection to the exploration of new combinations, helping create a calligraphy pen that feels original while remaining rooted in traditional making.

Gift-worthy presentation

The set is sold in an elegant gift box, making it an excellent present for calligraphers, writers, stationery lovers, and anyone who appreciates beautifully made desk accessories. Its unusual dual-purpose design adds extra interest for customers looking for a memorable and distinctive gift.

A decorative object for desk or study

As well as being a useful writing instrument, the Tiepolo set works beautifully as a decorative object for the desk or study. Its sculptural bronze form and unusual functionality give it a strong visual presence, making it suitable for display between moments of use.

Bortoletti Italian craftsmanship

Bortoletti is known for elegant writing instruments and desk accessories inspired by Venice, decorative metalwork, and traditional Italian craftsmanship. The Tiepolo set reflects that heritage through its hand-cast bronze body, jeweller-led design, and thoughtful blend of practical use and visual refinement. It is a piece that celebrates the enduring value of artisan design.

How do I swap a glass nib for a steel nib in the Bortoletti dip pens?

To change a nib in a Bortoletti dip pen, first pull the existing metal or glass nib straight out from the holder. If you are switching from a metal nib to a glass nib, you may also need to remove the small metal collar, or ferrule, from the tip of the holder using your fingernail. Once that is removed, slide the new nib into place and check that it is seated firmly and sitting straight so the ink flows properly.

There is also a helpful video from the Procincial Pen Co. showing how to change Bortoletti dip pen nibs here: Watch the video tutorial.
